Sample Answer:

In today’s world, environmental pollution is a pressing issue that requires immediate attention. Many people argue that companies and individuals should bear the responsibility of cleaning up the environment in proportion to the amount of pollution they have produced. While I agree with this notion to some extent, I also believe that the government should play a significant role in regulating and funding environmental cleanup efforts.

Firstly, it is undeniable that companies and individuals who have contributed to environmental pollution should take responsibility for cleaning up their mess. For example, industries that release harmful chemicals into the air or water should be held accountable for the damage they have caused and should allocate resources to mitigate the environmental impact. Similarly, individuals who engage in activities that result in pollution, such as littering or improper waste disposal, should also be responsible for cleaning up after themselves.

Furthermore, holding polluters accountable for cleaning up the environment can serve as a deterrent for future pollution. If companies and individuals know that they will have to bear the financial burden of cleaning up their pollution, they may be more inclined to adopt environmentally friendly practices and technologies to minimize their impact on the environment.

However, it is important to recognize that environmental cleanup efforts require significant resources and expertise. Therefore, it is unrealistic to expect companies and individuals to bear the full cost of environmental remediation. This is where the government should step in by implementing and enforcing regulations, as well as providing funding for environmental cleanup initiatives. By doing so, the government can ensure that environmental cleanup efforts are comprehensive and effective, and that the burden is not disproportionately placed on certain companies or individuals.

In conclusion, while I agree that companies and individuals should pay to clean up the environment in proportion to the amount of pollution they have produced, I also believe that the government should play a crucial role in regulating and funding environmental cleanup efforts. Only through a collaborative effort between the government, businesses, and individuals can we effectively address the issue of environmental pollution and work towards a cleaner and healthier planet.
