In response to these problems, some people advocate for the imposition of extra taxes on flights and accommodation in order to restrict the growth of the tourism industry. While this proposal may seem like a viable solution to mitigate the negative impacts of tourism, I believe that it is not the most effective approach to addressing these issues.
First and foremost, imposing additional taxes on flights and accommodation may not necessarily lead to a significant reduction in tourism. People who have the means and desire to travel will likely continue to do so, even if it means paying higher taxes. Instead of curbing tourism, this measure may simply result in increased costs for travelers, making it less accessible for individuals who are already financially disadvantaged.
Furthermore, the imposition of extra taxes may have adverse effects on the tourism industry itself.
