In recent years, there has been a growing trend towards the removal of traditional subjects such as Art, Sport, and Music from school curriculums in favor of technology-related subjects like Information Technology. This shift has sparked a heated debate about the value of these subjects in the modern education system. In this essay, I will discuss both sides of the argument and provide my opinion on the matter.
On one hand, proponents of the removal of traditional subjects argue that Information Technology is crucial for preparing students for the digital age. They contend that in today’s technology-driven world, a solid understanding of IT is essential for future career success. Furthermore, they argue that the skills learned in IT classes, such as coding and digital literacy, are more relevant to the modern workforce than those learned in Art, Sport, and Music classes.
On the other hand, opponents of this shift argue that Art, Sport, and Music are essential for the holistic development of students. These subjects not only provide students with opportunities for creative expression and physical activity but also teach important skills such as teamwork, discipline, and perseverance.
