Some people say that a teacher’s main role in school is to motivate and inspire students. However, others believe that a teacher’s primary role is to pass on knowledge.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

There is a widespread debate about the primary role of a teacher in school. Some argue that a teacher’s main responsibility is to motivate and inspire students, while others believe that their primary role is to pass on knowledge. In my opinion, both of these views are important, and a teacher’s role encompasses both aspects.
On one hand, the argument that a teacher’s main role is to motivate and inspire students holds merit. A motivated and inspired student is more likely to be engaged in their learning and perform better academically. Teachers who are able to inspire their students can have a lasting impact on their lives, not only academically but also personally. A motivated student is more likely to pursue their goals and overcome challenges, leading to a successful future.
On the other hand, the view that a teacher’s primary role is to pass on knowledge is equally important. Teachers are responsible for delivering the curriculum and ensuring that students have a strong foundation of knowledge in various subjects. Without this knowledge, students may struggle to understand more complex concepts and may not be adequately prepared for further education or the workforce.
In my opinion, a teacher’s role is multifaceted and includes both motivating and inspiring students as well as passing on knowledge. A teacher should strive to create a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages students to reach their full potential. At the same time, they should also ensure that students are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to succeed in their academic and professional endeavors.
In conclusion, while there is a debate about the primary role of a teacher in school, I believe that both aspects – motivating and inspiring students, and passing on knowledge – are essential to a teacher’s role. A good teacher should be able to balance both of these aspects in order to effectively educate and support their students.
