Sample Answer:

It is often said that people should sometimes do things that they do not enjoy doing. This statement is a matter of personal perspective, and while some may argue that it is important to step out of one’s comfort zone and experience new things, others may believe that life is too short to spend time doing things that do not bring joy or fulfillment. In my opinion, I agree with the statement that people should sometimes do things that they do not enjoy, as it can lead to personal growth and a broader understanding of the world around us.

Firstly, doing things that we do not enjoy can often lead to personal growth and development. When we challenge ourselves to try new activities or take on unfamiliar tasks, we are forced to step outside of our comfort zone and push ourselves to learn and adapt. This can lead to a sense of accomplishment and increased self-confidence, as we prove to ourselves that we are capable of overcoming obstacles and thriving in new situations. For example, if someone who is introverted and shy decides to join a public speaking club, they may initially feel uncomfortable and anxious, but over time they may develop valuable communication skills and become more confident in social situations.

Furthermore, doing things that we do not enjoy can also broaden our understanding of the world and the people around us. By engaging in activities that are outside of our usual interests, we can gain new perspectives and insights that we may not have encountered otherwise. This can lead to greater empathy and understanding towards others, as we become more aware of the diverse experiences and challenges that people face. For instance, if someone who has never been interested in sports decides to volunteer at a local youth sports program, they may gain a deeper appreciation for the value of teamwork and perseverance, and develop a stronger sense of community.

In conclusion, while it may be tempting to only engage in activities that bring us immediate pleasure, I believe that it is important to sometimes do things that we do not enjoy. By pushing ourselves out of our comfort zones, we can experience personal growth and gain a broader understanding of the world, ultimately leading to a more enriched and fulfilling life.
