Sample Answer:

In today’s society, the role of teachers in shaping the moral compass of students is a topic of much debate. Some argue that teachers should be responsible for instilling values of right and wrong in students, while others believe that their role should be limited to teaching academic subjects. In my opinion, while teachers should certainly lead by example and promote ethical behavior, the primary responsibility for teaching morality lies with parents and the community.

On the one hand, those who advocate for teachers to take on the role of moral educators argue that schools are an important part of a child’s upbringing and should therefore play a role in shaping their values. They believe that by teaching students to distinguish between right and wrong, teachers can help to create a more ethical and responsible citizenry. This approach also emphasizes the importance of character education and the development of empathy and compassion, which are crucial for a harmonious society.

On the other hand, there are those who argue that teachers are already burdened with the task of imparting academic knowledge and should not be expected to take on the additional responsibility of teaching morality. They believe that this task should fall to parents and the wider community, who are better positioned to instill values and beliefs in children. According to this view, teachers should focus on their core duty of providing a high-quality education and leave the moral development of students to others.

In my view, while teachers can certainly play a role in modeling ethical behavior and promoting positive values, the primary responsibility for teaching morality lies with parents and the community. Parents are the first and most influential teachers in a child’s life, and they have a crucial role to play in instilling values and guiding their children’s moral development. Furthermore, the community as a whole, including religious institutions and community organizations, can also contribute to the moral education of young people.

In conclusion, while teachers can certainly contribute to the moral development of students, the primary responsibility for teaching right and wrong lies with parents and the wider community. By working together, parents, teachers, and the community can create an environment that fosters the development of ethical and responsible individuals.
